A room that only has simple furniture in it can start to look dull over time. Spruce up your living areas with pillows! Take our advice: pillows can improve the decor of many interior spaces. Here are three ways you can use pillows to decorate your home.
Tiny pillows can make great signs that are both fashionable and information. You can make these pillows with scraps of felt or cotton print fabrics – or pretty much any small bits available from your local fabric store. (Most will have some small bits of fabric left over from other purchases, and all you have to do is ask to see this selection.) You can use these to make signs for doors, such as “Do Not Disturb” or “Sleeping” for the new baby’s room, or “Please Clean” for that unruly teenager. You can also make signs for the dishwasher or laundry, such as “Dirty” and “Washed.” Tiny pillows like this a very versatile.
You should also consider pillows for pets. You can make these yourself or buy pillows guaranteed for your pets to love. If you want to make one, Scotch-guard some fabric, fold it over, stuff it with grocery bags (which your pets will love, assuming you don’t mind the crinkle), then stitch up the sides. Attract your cats to the pillow with a little cat nip, or stuff a few dryer sheets into the pillow to repel odors. This is an inexpensive option to keep your pets comfortable without taking over your decor with unsightly pet playhouses or the like.
Try decorating your furniture with pillows for each season. Use floral decorations in the spring, the colors of the beach in the summer, colorful leaves or forest images in autumn, and snowflakes for those winter months. This can keep your decor fresh and appealing throughout the year without costing a fortune to redecorate every few months.
Pillows are always a good idea when it comes to decorating. Consider tiny pillows, pet pillows, and pillows for the seasons when you’re looking for ideas to spruce up your home.
